The Hidden Cost to our Plates
The Hidden Cost of Our Plate
How everyday food choices shape our health, communities and the planet.
Every day, we make countless food choices. We often ask ourselves questions like, "Is this healthy?", "Can I afford it?" or "Will I enjoy it?" But how often do we stop to ask a different question: Healthy for who? Healthy for us? Healthy for the planet? Healthy for our local communities? Or healthy for future generations?
Food is far more than fuel. Every meal connects us to a much bigger story—one that includes our health, the environment, local economies, farming, biodiversity and the policies that shape the choices available to us. Yet these connections are often hidden in plain sight.
In this interactive workshop, we'll uncover the hidden cost of our plates and explore how our everyday food choices can become a powerful force for positive change. Through thought-provoking activities, small-group discussions and systems thinking, we'll move beyond individual choices to consider the wider food system through four key themes: People, Planet, Place and Policy.
